Brittany Collins is a rising senior and a broadcast journalism scholar at Florida A&M University. She is a transfer student from St. Petersburg College who had a passion for journalism since elementary school. 

After two months of being a writer and photographer for The Famuan, she was promoted to Deputy Photo Editor in the fall 2013. She was also Deputy Sports Editor for The Famuan in the spring 2014. Collins volunteered with FAMU’s News 20 at five in the Spring 2014 semester. In Spring 2014 she was selected as a Knight Scholar and had the opportunity to attend the computer- assistant reporting conference for Investigative Reporters and Editors, Inc. in Baltimore, Md.

Last summer, before transferring to FAMU, Collins interned at WSPF in St. Petersburg, FL where she assisted with coverage of government-related news, helped directors produce packages, and conducted interviews at groundbreaking ceremonies.  


This summer, she was selected as a CBS News Intern for The Sunday Morning Show with Charles Osgood. She assists producers, editors and correspondents for numerous shows. Her tasks include intense research for stories, assisting on shoots, and helping produce/edit Sunday Morning’s commentaries.


Collins wants to become an investigative reporter dealing with crime and wrongdoings. Collins was selected to be the President for FAMU’s Association of Black Journalists in the upcoming fall 2014 semester. Most recently, Collins has been selected as a weather anchor and reporter for FAMU's News 20 at 5 in the upcoming fall.
