Specialized Documentary Journal

The selection

Once I found out I was selected to work with LaCrai Mitchell, we sat down and talked about the layout of this doc. We knew we had to work right away because the doc was selected for "J school Journals" as well.

First, LaCrai and I talked about the style of the doc. For people who feel trapped, we want to make this doc is told in all directions. We talked about how we would organize it and who's interviews we would use. We looked over the footage we had from New York City and decided what was strong and weak. From the footage we already had, we knew we had to get ready to take photos and get more video for our doc.

We decided our own personal deadlines, so we could stay ahead. The big focus for now is our outline and trailer, which is due soon.

Getting extra video

LaCrai and I went to Frenchtown to get video and marketing photos. We had to make sure we were not false lighting anyone. There were many homeless people, and we just can't assume they are trapped. Many people kept asking what we were working on, and we learned how to explain the purpose of our doc.

The trailer

Our trailer is due soon, and we started brainstorming what we wanted to tease. We knew we would have to get extra video because so far, everything shown is from NYC. Tomorrow we are planning to get extra video at outside cities of Tallahassee.
